It’s been revealed that WRC 9, the latest entry in the FIA World Rally Championship’s series, is going to be available for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X some time after it launches on September 3 this year.
This has been shared on the official WRC website, and a new trailer has been released. Oliver Ciesla, managing director of WRC Promoter which owns the commercial rights to the FIA World Rally Championship, said:
“The introduction of new-generation gaming consoles is a wonderfully exciting step and we’re delighted WRC 9 will be the first rally game to become available to gamers on such platforms.”
It is also said that WRC Promoter has confirmed WRC 10 and WRC 11 since they have extended the licensing agreement with game publisher Nacon and development studio KT Racing until 2022.
When it comes to WRC 9, it’s revealed that it will feature 3 new rallies - Kenya’s Safari, New Zealand's North Island, and Japan’s rally. Also, players will be able to choose from more than 50 drivers and test their driving skills on classic WRC tracks. In addition, career mode has been improved, and now the greater focus is on realistic rally experience.
“WRC 9 will capture the adventure and challenges posed by the real-life FIA World Rally Championship in an ever-more realistic fashion, thanks to significant upgrades by Nacon and KT Racing,” said Ciesla.
WRC 9 will be available on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC from the Epic Games Store on September 3, and at a later date on Nintendo Switch. More details about the exact release date for Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 will be revealed in the near future.
