Not even a week has passed and Warcraft 3: Reforged is already the worst game on Metacritic based on user score. With 21,450 ratings it’s sitting at 0.5/10.
Originally announced in 2018 at Blizzcon, Reforged was supposed to be a huge remaster of a game very near and dear to many. Besides the remaster of the Reign of Chaos and Frozen Throne campaigns, matchmaking was also being updated to use Battle.net.
Judging by the score, fans are not happy with what they received. Many things were promised, but most fans say they don’t really see that much of an improvement. Besides the package not being what is promised, many are complaining about technical difficulties too, bugs, glitches, connectivity.
There’s also a part of the community mad at the new EULA, the modders. According to the new EULA, anything you create in Warcraft 3: Reforged belongs to Blizzard and you have no rights to it. No doubt, Blizzard doesn’t want to miss out on another DOTA. Instead of missing it, nothing will actually be made since modders don’t want to sink a lot of time into a project for Blizzard to just yoink it away and put their name on it.
Obviously, there are people that are enjoying Reforged, but they are absolutely dwarfed by the number of people that are out for Blizzard’s blood.
I was really excited about it too, but I’m having a hard time seeing what was promised. Yes, it looks better than the original, but it’s not even close to what was shown at Blizzcon two years ago.
