Cross-platform modding leader mod.io announced that, for the first time gamers can enjoy modding supported VR games on Steam, Oculus and Viveport. The new capability is live in the VR games SWORDS of GARGANTUA and Contractors VR from today. What's particularly notable, is that the support includes the Oculus Quest an Android based device, which highlights the flexibility of the mod.io SDK/API for game developers who want to integrate cross-platform modding, no matter which store or device their players come from.
Scott Reismanis CEO of mod.io said "We're excited that mods for VR games like SWORDS of GARGANTUA, Contractors VR as well as Valve's Half-Life: Alyx (which uses Workshop) are gaining traction... Modding has always been a source of significant creativity, so it's interesting to contemplate what innovation will come from this."
VR gamers can now try out a range of mods in the rogue-lite action game SWORDS of GARGANTUA as well as Contractors VR, a multiplayer first-person shooter. SWORDS of GARGANTUA modders can create enemy waves and adjust enemy, player and weapon stats right now. Contractors VR modders can create new maps, guns and game modes and mix them together to make unique experiences. Early feedback from players during testing has been extremely encouraging (see Reddit posts one and two).
