Valve Is Being Put to the Test as a Game About Rape Shows up on Steam

Valve has taken a hands-off approach when it comes to what is available on Steam. Will a visual novel where you play as a sociopath raping women make them change their mind?

The game received an Adult only rating and is currently awaiting approval on Steam. This means that you can only see it if you’re logged in and choose to see such content.

You play as a sociopath that rapes his coworkers during a zombie apocalypse and there isn’t much beyond that. Your choices are represented through 3D renders and the developer proudly states that the game offers “evil choices.”

Technically the game doesn’t violate the rules, but the approval process is already taking longer than usual. Even the developer is aware that it might not be approved and has backup plans in such a case.

The game already had content edited and removed, specifically a baby-killing scene in case it can be seen as child-exploitation.

It will be interesting to see if it will be approved and how will the influence future decisions.

In case you wish to visit the games site and read everything the developer had to say about it, you can do so here. The website itself doesn’t seem to have any adult content, but it does link to it.
