Tim Cain and Leonard Boyarsky revealed in a recent interview with The Game Informer a few details about The Outer Worlds, one of them being a survival mode, Supernova.
For hardcore players who prefer the game to be challenging, in Supernova you’ll have hunger, thirst, and exhaustion meters, so you’ll have to eat, drink, and sleep to avoid penalties.
They also mentioned that there will be no crafting, but you’ll be able to upgrade your gear with parts scattered around the world, change the way they work, and discover unique abilities. Some enemies will have weapons and gear you can loot from their carcasses, and a bunch of random loot is placed all over the world so look out for anything valuable.
Obsidian had to cut back on some details to make the game perform better, one of them being a gravity system, which is also the reason why The Outer Worlds is not an open world.
The release date for The Outer Worlds is still unknown, but it is going to come out sometime this year, so be patient.
