Respawn Entertainment is finally kicking off the much anticipated first season of Apex Legends, today with the release of the Season 1 Battle Pass and the new legend, Octane. The Legend will be purchasable in-game and is separate from the Battle Pass.
Octane was heavily mentioned alongside the Season 1 Battle Pass during the leaks. However, Respawn has confirmed that the Legend will not be included as part of said Battle Pass. Instead, just like Mirage and Caustic, he can be bought it the in-game store for 12,000 Legend Tokens or 750 Apex Coins.
Prior to his release, Respawn has shared some details about Octane on the PlayStation Blog. He’s a wild thrill-seeker hooked on adrenaline. After blowing his own legs off during a "record-breaking gauntlet speed-run,” Octane had to be outfitted with metal prosthetics. His Adrenaline Junkie ability allows him to exchange health for speed, and his Ultimate, Launch Pad, can send you and your squad flying through the air.
As I mentioned, the character's existence had previously been leaked, so players have known about him for a while now, but this is the first time that he has officially been confirmed. Respawn also teased his arrival by putting his jump pads in the game.
The Apex Legends Season 1 Pass costs 950 Apex Coins (which is roughly $10). With it, players will be able to unlock 100 tiers of cosmetic rewards, like character and weapon skins, banner frames, etc. For more information on the Battle Pass visit the official page.
