Tencent Start, Tencent’s Cloud Gaming Service Launches in China

Tencent has soft-launched its Tencent Start cloud gaming service in China with Blade and Soul, and has now added a few more games.

Daniel Ahmad, a Senior Analyst at Niko Partners, posted on Twitter, that after the first public test with Blade and Soul Tencent has decided to add even more games, including Fortnite, Path of Exile, and NBA 2K Online 2.

The public beta is available to users in Beijing, Shanghai, Jiangsu, Tianjin, Hebei, Anhui, and Guangdong. Besides the location, users also need to have an internet speed of 20 Mbps or more.

Also, Nvidia has confirmed that they have partnered with Tencent to power the cloud gaming platform.

Start is a separate cloud gaming effort from Tencent’s own platform WeGame. WeGame is limited to streaming games available on it, while Tencent Start is targeting games that are not available on it.
