DarkMode, a small group of game design students from Oslo, is bringing a new take on the PT genre of horror with Avarice.

Avarice contains a brutal narrative interpretation of losing a loved one based on actions of greed. The game is now available for download on completely free.

Avarice is a first-person, narrative-driven horror game, where you experience a broken man’s descent into mental hell. You play as Edward Armitage, a renowned explorer, returning home from an expedition gone wrong. Throughout the game, you experience a gripping narrative going through the curious mind of a man and his interpretation of untold events.

Fans of the PT teaser and horror games that are on the lookout for something similar to play, might find Avarice a perfect match.

We really wanted to replicate that feeling of despair which is so intense in PT, and we truly believe that Avarice has the means and motive to do so”, said Connor Thorpe, Producer at DarkMode. “The game tells a dark story as you experience constantly changing, horrific events, in a dramatic setting

Avarice has a Victorian setting with mind-bending gameplay, and dark, unique narrative, if that sounds interesting to you, head over to to get it.
