There are a few years to go before we can get our hands on the new Stalker game, but GSC Game World is happy with the development of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2.
YouTuber Antishnaps has shared videos of his interview with GSC Game World regarding the Stalker game currently being developed (it's in Russian).
Some of the main talking points were mods, what the players can expect from the game and their motivation.
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 is a brand new project and is not based on the game canceled back in 2012. Development is being funded by the developers themselves. The new game is being made while keeping in mind everything they learned from previous games, mods, and the community.
They additionally confirmed this stance when asked where their inspiration comes from. Some of the inspiration comes from movies and books, but most of it is the original S.T.A.L.K.E.R. trilogy. S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 will stay true to the previous games and bring the same atmosphere to players.
When asked about VR and a Battle Royale mode, the answer was quite obviously, not going to happen. Another feature that was asked about was co-op, which they said that they can’t confirm nor deny at the moment. Co-op might be an interesting idea for S.T.A.L.K.E.R., but it would also have an effect on the atmosphere which is a lot more engaging as a single-player experience in my opinion.
Another thing that was mentioned was the secrets hidden in the website and announcement image. The first part of the code is 35, which you get by subtracting 1986 (the year of the Chernobyl nuclear disaster) from 2021 (the number on the announcement poster). The second part is morse code hidden in the OST found on the game’s website.
Even though fans are working hard on deciphering the code, there is still more to be found and there is a new hint. There’s more information on the website, but not where most people are looking. Anyone who manages to decipher it will receive S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 for free.
One of the big questions was if they think that S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 will manage to live up to the expectations of fans. They noted that they themselves are fans of the games and that they believe they can bring an amazing and authentic experience to players.
The next up was, will there be mod support? They love mods and even named a few as their favorites, there are even modders they are working with. When it comes to Stalker 2 mods, the mod development toolkit will be available as soon as the game releases.
Finally, when asked if they are happy with the way development is going, they quoted Sergiy Grygorovych, the founder of GSC Game World and producer of S.T.A.L.K.E.R.,
"I decided it must be either a cultural phenomenon or nothing. Now I can say that I like it."
It’s not much, but any information is greatly appreciated.
