Riot Games, the developer of the popular League of Legends, agreed to pay 10 million dollars to its female employees who were part of the company in the last 5 years, as the Los Angeles Times reports.
This is the outcome of a class-action lawsuit from November 2018 that alleged gender discrimination. Two women, who were part of the Riot Games’ Los Angeles game studio, sued the company for violating the California Equal Pay Act. They also stated that they were constantly sexually harassed and discriminated against based on their gender.
This lawsuit happened just a short time after Kotaku published its article which investigated the sexism and gender discrimination in Riot Games.
So, about 1,000 women who worked for Riot Games in the period of the last 5 years will get a payment from the above-mentioned 10$ million.
