Quantic Dream, a French game development studio behind Detroit: Become Human, is celebrating its 23rd birthday this year. To mark this, it has decided to become completely independent and to start self-publishing.
Quantic Dream has been linked primarily to PlayStation since Sony released its previous three games - Heavy Rain, Beyond: Two Souls, and Detroit: Become Human.
In a blog post on the official website, David Cage, CEO, Director and Writer and Guillaume de Fondaumière, Co-CEO, Head of Publishing explain why they have decided to make this move.
“This new venture will allow us to make decisions in total independence, and to address the technological and strategic opportunities of next-generation platforms. It will also allow us to help other developers, by providing investment and development support, so that they can fully express their talents,” they wrote.
“We want to support creators of original projects and help them, in turn, to achieve their vision and offer quality, ground-breaking experiences.”
