Sony has confirmed that PlayStation will be missing E3 2020, instead they will visit 'hundreds' of consumer oriented events showcasing games for the PS4 and PS5.
Sony Interactive Entertainment has confirmed to GamesIndustry.biz that PlayStation will not be attending this year’s E3. Just like last year, they believe that the vision of E3 is not one they are interested in, and it doesn’t align with what they have planned for this year.
"We will build upon our global events strategy in 2020 by participating in hundreds of consumer events across the globe," said a Sony spokesperson, "Our focus is on making sure fans feel part of the PlayStation family and have access to play their favorite content."
It’s interesting how Sony moved away from E3, since that is when and where they used to reveal their new consoles. They announced the US launch of the PlayStation at the first E3, and continued to do so for every next one.
The important part is that we won’t be missing out too much. Instead of blowing the budget on E3, more people will have a chance to see what's coming at many different conventions.
