Ndemic Creations announced that Plague Inc., everyone's favorite real-time pathogen spreading and evolving game, has been removed from the App Store in China.
Ndemic released a statement on their website explaining that the game has been removed from the Chinese App Store due to “content that is illegal in China”. The Cyberspace Administration of China has deemed that Plague Inc. has illegal content, but no details were given on what that content is exactly.
Ndemic is trying to get in touch with them so that they can handle this situation. They received no feedback on the removal and they are unsure if it’s about a certain part of the game or if it’s due to the fact that the game is all about spreading a pathogen and China has a bit of a situation on the same topic at the moment.
Either way, Ndemic is trying to get it back up. Interestingly, Plague Inc. had an all-time concurrent player peak this January. No doubt the interest came from the spread of the coronavirus. Ndemic was aware of this too, so they also released a statement reminding everyone that Plague Inc. is just a game and is not to be used as a source of information concerning real-life pandemics.
