PAKO - Car Chase Simulator - Stylish, Simple, and Tons of Fun

Out of all the arcade driving games out there this one is one of my personal favorites. Ladies and gentlemen I give you PAKO, the super simplistic arcade racer developed by Tree Men Games. It goes for a low poly look that is honestly gorgeous.

And with a lot of level and vehicle variety, the game is tons of fun. This little gem is one of the best free mobile games out there and you should definitely give it a shot. Not convinced yet? Well, let’s dig a little deeper and see exactly why this game deserves a place in your game library.

So like I said, PAKO is an arcade racing game (well, you don’t really race) . The goal is to chase that high score by drifting around different levels and avoiding the cops. Watch out though, one little hit will end your run immediately. It’s played from a top-down perspective but you can change it to third-person. Although it’s easier to play from a third-person point of view the game looks better with the default camera.

The controls are super simple. You tap on the right side of the screen to turn right and tap on the left to turn left. Your car will accelerate automatically so you don’t need to worry about that. The gameplay is smooth like butter and the driving is very well executed.

Now, as I said in the beginning, there’s a lot of vehicle variety. The points you earn on your runs can be used to purchase all sorts of vehicles. From muscle cars to trucks, to minivans there’s a whole lot to choose from. Each vehicle has different handling and speed so check all of them out and see which one fits your playstyle best. You can even change the color of some of them.

There are also 19 different maps for you to unlock and play around in. They are all unique, have their own atmosphere, and even their own soundtrack. Some maps have a little extra something which is pretty cool. For example, the graveyard map has zombies in it and you can run them over for some extra points.

Although the game is pretty simple it can be challenging at times. The police will try to intercept you and ram you. You’ll often be playing a game of chicken with the cops and it’s super satisfying when you swerve away at the last second like a total badass. Take notes Need for Speed: No Limits, this is how cops should work in these games.

Of course, you could always spice things up a bit by enabling pakocalyps mode. This mode will give the map an apocalyptic atmosphere and will give the player an extra obstacle in the form of flaming rocks falling from the sky. So if you happen to think the game is a bit too easy for you then try this mode on for size.

I also want to quickly mention how beautifully the game is monetized. The game will sometimes show you ads but you’ll be rewarded with some in-game currency which is awesome. Not only that but you can also choose to watch an ad that will give you a choice between three cards. You get to choose only one but you have a chance to be rewarded with a lot of in-game money. So kudos to you Tree Men Games.

So yeah, this game is pretty cool. I have enjoyed the hell out of it and I definitely think you should at least give it shot. Taking into account everything I’ve said I feel pretty comfortable giving PAKO a very solid 9.0/10. Whether you’re playing for an hour or just while dropping a deuce PAKO will surely entertain you.
