Blizzard has introduced the new Overwatch’s hero Echo, who is the 32nd hero in Overwatch and is now live on the Public Test Realm (PTR) on PC. Echo is a multirole evolutionary robot programmed with a rapidly adapting artificial intelligence and represents the cutting edge of technology. She is a Damage category hero.

In a developer update, more details about Echo, her backstory and her abilities have been revealed.

Echo is created by Dr. Mina Liao, an Overwatch founding member that has been killed in an attack on an Overwatch facility. When it comes to Echo’s abilities, she can fly freely, surge forward quickly, and glide while falling.

Her primary attack is Tri-Shot which means she can fire 3 shots at once in a triangle. Then she is also equipped with Sticky Bombs, which means she can fire a volley of sticky bombs that go off after a delay.

In addition, she has a Focusing Beam ability that is best used on targets with less than half health. She can channel a beam for a few seconds, dealing very high damage to them.

Finally, her most impressive ability is that she can choose to turn into a targeted enemy hero and take over their abilities for a significant period of time. This is her ultimate.

Players can try out Echo during this PTR testing time, and Kaplan says that Echo may be balanced back if it proves necessary. He also says that Echo may remain on PTR for a prolonged period of time because a lot of things need to be tested, balanced, and some bugs will need fixing, as it goes with each new character.

Echo sure sounds like an interesting and powerful hero.
