According to Nintendo, the Switch and Switch Lite sales have hit the 10 million sales mark in Europe and the UK, first-party games are also doing amazingly.
Nintendo reports that year-on-year sales are up 30%, and 40% higher than in 2017. This means the numbers confirm what we already knew, the Nintendo Switch is amazing.
“The Nintendo Switch family of consoles is being enjoyed by millions of players across Europe, and passing such a major milestone is a testament to its broad appeal,” said Nintendo of Europe President, Stephan Bole. “European sales of Nintendo Switch hardware and software are growing significantly each year, and existing and new console owners have a wealth of titles to choose from, with plenty more on the way.”
Besides the console sales, the games are doing amazing too. Since the launch of the Nintendo Switch, European gamers have bought over 36 million copies of Nintendo games.
Nine games published by Nintendo have passed the one million sales mark in Europe:
• Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
• Super Mario Odyssey
• The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
• Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee!
• Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
• Splatoon 2
• Super Mario Party
• New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe
It’s not only first-party games that are seeing success on the Switch. Minecraft, Crash Bandicoot N.Sane Trilogy, Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle, and Stardew Valley have all sold more than half a million copies this year.
It’s not the end of the year yet, Luigi’s Mansion 3 and Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield are being released in 2019.
