Half-Life: Alyx Coming March 2020 and Official Trailer

After twelve years, we get to see a trailer for a brand new Half-Life game and even a release date. It feels absolutely surreal.

Half-Life: Alyx takes places between Half-Life and Half-Life 2, in the period when Alyx Vance and her father Eli are building up the resistance against the Combine. You play as Alyx on a mission to save your father, and the fabled Gravity Gun is back, this time in the form of Gravity Gloves.

Now, we are aware that most people shudder at the thought of VR, but Valve programmer David Speyrer had a few things to say.

It’s not a side story, nor an episodic one — it’s the next part of the Half-Life story, in a game around the same length as Half-Life 2. While it does take place before the events of Half-Life 2, we actually recommend that you play through Half-Life 2: Episode 2 before you play Half-Life: Alyx, for reasons that will become clear as you progress. Of course, we’ll have to wait and see how people react to Half-Life: Alyx once it’s out, but we’d love to continue pushing forward.

In case you have the Valve Index, you can pick up Half-Life: Alyx for free, but if you’re using a different headset, it will cost you $59.99. But, you can pre-order now with a 10% discount.

And a very important thing to keep in mind is that Valve confirmed they have gone back to developing games and that the Source 2 engine is ready. Which means, Valve might finally learn to count to 3.

However it may be, March isn’t that far away and it’s super exciting to see a new Half-Life game.
