Gearbox Software has dedicated a rather unique gun to a long-time Borderlands fan who was diagnosed with cancer and let him play the early build of the game.
Trevor Eastman, a 26-year-old fan, was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer of the esophagus, stomach, and liver. He was told he only has a year left to live, so he took to Reddit to ask the community how he could get in contact with Gearbox and get a chance to see Borderlands 3.
The post reads: “I've been a huge fan of Borderlands for a long time now...and I don't know if I'll live to see Borderlands 3. If there's any possible way that someone could find a way for me to be able to play it early...I would be forever grateful.”
The good people at Gearbox saw his wish and invited him to the studio to play the early build of the game for a few hours and even name a weapon. He went back to Reddit to thank everyone and share his gun, the Compressing Trevanator. The Compressing Trevanator is a very unique Maliwan shotgun with both fire and ice elemental damage.
