Epic Games has bought Rocket League developer, Psyonix. Rocket League is expected to come to the Epic Store in late 2019 with more competitive e-sport support.
It is unknown how much Epic has paid for this acquisition and the details are a bit blurry. The wording is unclear on whether the game will become an Epic Store exclusive, but Psyonix has promised continued support for Steam users once Rocket League hits the Epic Store.
Epic commented that currently there are no plans on making it an exclusive, but that is no guarantee that the game will stay on Steam.
This deal doesn’t come as a surprise since Epic and Psyonix have worked together previously. The most notable titles they worked on being Unreal Tournament, Gear of War and Mass Effect 3.
Making it an exclusive is not likely since the backlash from grabbing a game that has been available on Steam for years is completely different from securing exclusivity for a title that was only announced for Steam.
