EA Confirms That Apex Legends Is Planned to Release in China

Based on the May 7 conference call where EA talked about plans concerning mayor titles we know that a Chinese release of Apex Legends is planned in the near future.

In the report, it is stated that EA has a good relationship with Tencent and that they plan on releasing Apex Legends in China through them.

The good relationship isn’t anything that should be questioned since EA has already released a handful of games through Tencent, the latest being FIFA Online 4 last year. It is also guaranteed to have a positive impact on both companies, but there is one glaring problem.

Everything depends on the Chinese government to actually approve the releases and their monetization. Tencent already failed to receive approval for PUBG, which is now being scrapped for a different game.

Apex Legends already has players in China, but they play through a VPN, so receiving an actual release is sure to make them thankful. Currently, they have to jump through a lot of hoops to get into a match.

It also must be noted that many players are unsure how to feel about this decision due to a large number of cheaters coming from China. The VPNs they use to play also allow them to avoid tracking and being banned. Some believe that an actual release will lower the number of cheaters while others think that it will just make it easier for them.

In the end, only time will tell how this will play out. What do you think about the Chinese release and will they even receive approval for it?
