Details about Diablo IV's Itemization and Possible Changes Revealed

Blizzard has shared new information about Diablo IV, specifically its itemization and the changes they want to include.

Lead Systems Designer, David Kim, has discussed the changes they want to make in the new blog post on the official website.

"We agree with the feedback that Diablo IV shouldn’t just mimic the itemization in our previous Diablo games. Our plan is to take the best parts of previous games and improve upon them while introducing new elements to make Diablo IV unique. We don’t want to create an exact copy of Diablo II or Diablo III," reads the post.

Firstly, it's said that Diablo IV won't include ancient items, and that they will introduce a new type of consumable item for which they still have no name.

Then, they are considering increasing the total number of affixes on items, and also introducing three new stats: Angelic Power which increases the duration of all beneficial effects, Demonic Power, which increases the duration of all negative effects, and Ancestral Power, which increases the chance of on-hit effects.

Finally, based on the community’s feedback, they are restricting attack stats only to weapons, defense stats only to armor and there will be no stats on jewelry.

Kim concludes the post by saying: "We want to remind you one last time for good measure that none of this is final—we haven’t even tried most of this in a working build yet! We’d love to get some constructive feedback on these approaches, as well as the general direction we’re headed for itemization."
