Blizzard has recently decided to cancel all Overwatch League live events because of the coronavirus pandemic but matches should have been played online. However, since the California Governor ordered California lockdown, those matches also can’t be played.
The reason is that 3 participating teams are based in California and in order to compete, they would have to break the order to stay at home except if you need to go out for essential needs.
As a result, Blizzard shared a statement saying: “For the overall safety and well-being of our players, teams and staffs, and in alignment with California’s statewide ‘stay at home’ order, we are canceling this weekend’s scheduled Overwatch League competition. We will share more details on match rescheduling and look forward to returning to action soon.”
