Blizzard Loses Mitsubishi as Sponsor After Hong Kong Incident

Besides the international uproar after Blizzard banned a Hearthstone pro player calling for support for Hong Kong, they also lost a sponsor, Mitsubishi Motors.

Back at the start of October, Blitzchung, a Hearthstone pro player, was banned by Blizzard for showing support for the Honk Kong protests during a post-game interview. This caused a lot of people to get really mad, it even got the Republicans and Democrats to agree on something.

Now, there is confirmation that this also didn’t sit well with one of their commercial sponsors, Mitsubishi Motors.

A Reddit user noticed that the Mitsubishi logo is no longer present on the backdrop of the official tournament broadcast.

Recently, a spokesperson for Mitsubishi Motors Taiwan confirmed to The Daily Beast that they did pull their sponsorship for the event just two days after Blizzard banned Blitzchung. The spokesperson refused to comment further on the issue.

Just a reminder, BlizzCon is on Friday. What are your expectations for announcements and fan reception?
