In memory of the extraordinary Western Front truces of Christmas in 1914, Verdun is hosting the annual Christmas Truce event, from December 20th to January 3rd.
Inspired by true events of the Christmas Truce in 1914, the annual Verdun Christmas Truce event, which has been going on for 7 years already, draws near.
Players will be able to experience this unexpected moment of peace and common humanity amidst the horror and chaos of the First World War.
The trailer for the event features the words of Private Calder from the 6th Gordon Highlanders, who personally experienced one of the Christmas Truces aged only 17. His story was first recounted in 2016, when Verdun dedicated the Christmas Truce to War Child, with a special DLC for players to donate to the charity.
In-between the normal matches, players will find themselves on a special Christmas Truce map where they can play football matches, have snowball fights and send Christmas cards from the trenches by email or social media.
There’s a lot more to do and explore, so enjoy your time with your fellow players and do not fear any bayonet or artillery shell, but a snowball to the face is to be expected.
