Amazon Game Studios has announced that it has decided to delay the launch of its upcoming MMO New World from May until August 25. Also, the start of Closed Beta is moved for July.
In an update on the official website, the studio says that this decision has been made due to the challenges the team has been facing since switching to work from home due to the coronavirus pandemic.
“We have made the hard decision to delay the release of New World until August 25, 2020 and the start of Closed Beta to July. Like most of you, our entire team has been sequestered as a result of the global COVID-19 pandemic,” reads the statement.
"While we are still making great progress, developing an ambitious MMO like New World remotely has introduced some challenges. We want to make sure that we have the time needed to make New World the very best it can be for our players.”
Amazon Game Studios adds that the health and safety of its team is its top priority and that it hopes that fans understand the decision it has made. The update has also been shared on YouTube.
New World is currently in the progress of Alpha testing, and it will remain so until the start of the closed Beta in July.
