Atari signed a licensing agreement with a real estate developer to create eight hotels in the US, all themed around Atari and gaming.
The eight hotels will be all across the US. The first one will be in Phoenix, Arizona, followed by Las Vegas, Denver, Chicago, Austin, Seattle, San Francisso, and San Jose.
The hotels themselves will have esports venues for pros, more relaxed lounges for casual players, VR and AR will be integrated in the hotel in some way, and more. Besides all of the gaming related features, they will have all of the standard things such as bars, gyms, restaurants, bedrooms.
“We are thrilled to partner with GSD Group and True North Studio to build the first-ever Atari branded hotels across the United States. Together we’ll build a space that will be much more than just a place to stay,” said Fred Chesnais, CEO of Atari. “Atari is an iconic global brand that resonates with people of all ages, countries, cultures and ethnic backgrounds and we cannot wait for our fans and their families to enjoy this new hotel concept.”
The licensing deal itself gives Atari 5% of the hotels revenue with an advance of $600,000, which is a hilariously small amount compared to the size of the project.
